Name: Kari

Title: Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleader

Bio: Kari’s cheerleading career started with the Pop Warner football league in Orlando as just a kid. She became a professional cheerleader right out of high school in 2009 when she earned a full-time gig was with her hometown Orlando Magic. She applied for a cheerleading position with the Buccaneers in 2012, moving to Tampa the same year to try out for the team. She is one of only 27 cheerleaders who were chosen from more than 300 applicants. “I always knew I wanted to perform,” she said. When she’s not cheering for the Bucs, Kari is a student at the University of Central Florida.

What’s in the bag: “I use the same three products everyday. Most girls think I’m pretty simple but I like it so I don’t need to switch it up. I went into the Mac store one time and had them help me pick new products and I ended up picking the ones I always buy unintentionally.”

Florida Makeup Tips: “I use a primer and waterproof mascara. I put it on right before I go on the field and somehow it holds it all together really well.”

Cheerleading Pointers: “Stick to your goals. You can do anything you set your mind to. Keep practicing and stay true to yourself. And come to our summer clinics and learn how to do what we do on the field. We have a few girls on the squad who got their start as Bucs Junior Cheerleaders.”

Coach’s Perspective: “Kari has got this beautiful, sparkling smile and this great energy and charisma about her. We noticed her right off the bat, in addition to that long, beautiful curly hair. As she moved further through the process, she proved that she’s a really good performer, she’s coachable and definitely able to withstand the elements on game day and fit in well with the team.” –Melissa Fitzgerald, Bucs cheerleading manager
