Michael Murphy
Owner, Michael Murphy Gallery
What he’s wearing: black MTM suit
Most memorable career moment: Opening my current 5,000 S.F. gallery space on South MacDill Avenue
Guilty pleasure: Picking one would be difficult and listing them would be way too long
When I’m king: I’m Not?
I’d travel 5,000 miles to see: Anyone brilliant, anything amazing or for a great story
New Year’s resolution: To make it better than 2010
Always in my fridge: Ice for the party
Most unusual item in your home: ME
Artist you most admire: It would be hard to pick one artist. Walking into the Sistine Chapel (having studied it, watched the restoration on video and grownup with all the famous images) and looking up I was awestruck. For that reason, I would say Michelangelo
Bay area’s best-kept secret: That we have great artists and craftsmen here. Many people think they have to go New York, Los Angeles, or some other “metropolitan” city to get great art. Sadly, many artisans that live here do most of their business in those same places
Most ridiculous fashion purchase: Orange Clogs in the 70’s. Don’t ask
Can’t live without: My dog, Wyeth, friends and family, after that it is replaceable
