Since he was a kid, Dr. Michael J. Levitt has always been fascinated with the visual arts. If he wasn’t behind a camera lens, he was in the dark room of his parent’s basement developing his images. It’s no surprise that Dr. Levitt selected advanced eye care as his chosen profession.
Born and raised in St. Petersburg, he attended the University of Washington in St. Louis, one of the top 10 academic institutes in the country, before taking a residency position at the Boston University Medical Center. Upon graduation, he returned to the University of Washington to participate in a fellowship for glaucoma.
When it came time to open an office, Dr. Levitt knew there would be no better market than Tampa Bay. The board-certified ophthalmologist recently opened a state-of-the-art eye care center to provide a broad range of services, from fitting glasses to advanced surgical techniques tailored to fit your particular needs. His goal is to create an inviting neighborhood office that can assist you with every eye care need. That translates to less time in the waiting room and more one-on-one time with the doctor so you can make sure you’re walking away seeing your best.
While many ophthalmologists see glaucoma patients, Dr. Levitt is a fellowship-trained glaucoma surgeon who specializes in these procedures. He also offers the latest in advanced technology lens implants for cataract surgery.
Owning a full-service eye care center and being a full-time father and husband may keep Dr. Levitt out of the dark room these days, but he says his joy comes from helping patients see the importance of clear vision.
