We wanted a dynamic photograph for our 2014 Health, Beauty & Fitness edition. Something unique that would really stand out to our readers. We put in a call to registered yoga instructor and certified NASM personal trainer Ashley Halley of MOVE Inspired Health & Fitness and asked her if she could perform a one-of-a-kind pose. Ashley has spent more than 20 years contorting her body through yoga and dance, as well as athletic training.
We picked a time one morning in September and met Ashley in Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa. After several poses, she showed us the scorpion, which is also called Vrschikasana in Sanskrit. The inversion pose takes incredible arm and shoulder strength, and Ashley absolutely nailed it.
