Best place to have dinner on the water:
Ulele in Seminole Heights, now that you can dock right up on the river. Grab a table by the outdoor area. The grilled oysters are a must, as is the tequila-based mojito.
Favorite breakfast spot:
I rarely go out for breakfast, but when I do, I enjoy Daily Eats on South Howard or the West Tampa Sandwich Shop in West Tampa.
Best place to get lunch with a view of the city:
The University Club in downtown Tampa.
Favorite local beach:
St. Pete Beach – it has fantastic hotels and restaurants.
Favorite museum or gallery:
The Glazer Children’s Museum in downtown Tampa. It’s a cool interactive museum for the kids right there on the waterfront park, and there are plenty of nice places to dine within a short walk.
Best place to catch the Buccaneers game:
If I am not on my couch or at Raymond James Stadium, I am at Ducky’s on Kennedy Boulevard.
Place you take people from out of town:
Ybor City for a nice dinner at Bernini or The Columbia and a cigar.
Place that’s worth a drive over the bridge:
Villa Gallace. They have great Italian food on Gulf Boulevard on Indian Rocks Beach.
What’s your recommendation for something off the beaten path?
Rooster & The Till restaurant in Seminole Heights. It’s only been around a year or so. Reserve a spot at the dinner bar, and watch chef Ferrel Alvarez and his team prepare fresh dishes with unique detail and precision.
