The 1st Annual Charity Polo Classic was held in March 31, 2012 at DI Polo Club in Plant City. Chris Gannon, an advertising executive and professional polo player, and Patrick Moraites, a Children’s Cancer Board Member, founded The Charity Polo Classic in early December 2011. The men decided to combine their love for philanthropy and polo to create an event that is unlike any other in the Tampa Bay area. After reaching out to their business contacts and friends, the 1st Annual Charity Polo Classic Planning Committee was created.
The event brought together 400 people from Tampa Bay to enjoy a historical game all the while raising money for outstanding charitable organizations. Charity Polo Classic gave all of the net proceeds The Children’s Cancer Center, Combat Wounded Veterans Challenge and Kettle Comfort. The Charity Polo Classic featured traditional polo activities, such as a polo match that with national top polo stars, the stomping of the divots, and live and silent auctions blended with Tampa Bay flare.
