Sauce<\/span><\/p>\n\u00bd lb ground beef<\/p>\n
1 large onion, chopped<\/p>\n
1 28oz can or carton of tomato puree<\/p>\n
1 small can of tomato paste<\/p>\n
1 cup hot water<\/p>\n
Salt & pepper to taste<\/p>\n
3 tbsp parsley flakes<\/p>\n
3 cloves garlic, minced<\/p>\n
3 tbsp oregano<\/p>\n
1 tsp sugar<\/p>\n
Brown ground beef in a large pot along with the onion. Add rest of ingredients. Simmer about 2-3 hours until thick. While simmering, add meatballs (below).<\/p>\n

\u00bc cup Italian breadcrumbs<\/p>\n
\u00bc cup grated Parmesan cheese<\/p>\n
\u00bd tsp each salt and pepper<\/p>\n
Mix together well and make tiny meatballs. Drop into sauce while it is simmering.<\/p>\n

Cheese Mixture<\/span><\/p>\n1 and \u00bd lbs Ricotta cheese<\/p>\n
\u00bc cup Parmesan cheese<\/p>\n
2 Tbsp parsley flakes<\/p>\n
3 well-beaten eggs<\/p>\n
1 Tbsp sugar<\/p>\n
1 tsp salt<\/p>\n
\u00bd tsp pepper<\/p>\n
Mix well and set aside.<\/p>\n

Casserole<\/span><\/p>\n1 lb lasagna noodles (regular, not no-boil)<\/p>\n
1 to 1 and \u00bd lbs mozzarella cheese, sliced<\/p>\n
Cook the lasagna noodles in salted water and 2 tbsp oil. Rinse in cold water. Separate noodles or leave them in cold water so that they don\u2019t stick together.<\/p>\n
In a deep lasagna pan, start with a little sauce in the bottom to eliminate sticking. Layer noodles\u2014overlapping\u2014then cheese mixture, mozzarella cheese, and sauce with meatballs. Continue layering in this manner, reserving a little sauce for the top. Put the last layer of noodles on top, the remaining sauce, and sprinkle with some Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil.<\/p>\n
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until center is hot. Remove from oven and let sit for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.<\/p>\n
