Philanthropist, President and CEO of eMASON, Inc., Jane Mason is a wife,\u00a0mother and talented businesswoman who defines \u201cLeading Lady.\u201d The subject\u00a0of countless business features, including everything from the Fox Business\u00a0Network to Inc. 500, the Belleair Beach resident is the savvy entrepreneur\u00a0behind the hugely successful Clarifire\u00ae product, a software application that\u00a0automates workflow \u2013 among other things. Jane somehow manages to donate\u00a0time and resources to incredible charities while captaining a growing business\u2013 she\u2019s a true local inspiration.<\/p>\n
Which charities are you involved in?<\/p>\n
Emory Transplant Center and the Mason House in Atlanta. Locally, our\u00a0charities include Morton Plant Hospital, the Clearwater Free Clinic, Tampa\u00a0Bay Performing Arts, Clearwater Marine and many others.<\/p>\n
How did you become involved in the Emory Transplant Center and the Mason\u00a0House?<\/p>\n
My husband, Mark needed a heart transplant 16 years ago, which Emory\u00a0was able to help with. I lived at the Mason House (no relation) during the 6\u00a0months that he waited in the ICU unit for a donor.<\/p>\n
What is one of your favorite memories helping others?<\/p>\n
Going back and seeing the families enjoying the holiday decorations, rocking\u00a0chairs and other tangible gifts that the money we donated provided. We\u00a0have also donated not only funds but our software, the Clarifire application,\u00a0to the Emory Transplant Center to automate their business processes. It\u2019s\u00a0rewarding to take our experiences and improve their processes.<\/p>\n
What is one of your favorite charity events in Tampa?<\/p>\n
\u201cMartinis and Matisse\u201d hosted by the Clearwater Free Clinic. I love to see\u00a0the local community come out and appreciate art while helping others at the\u00a0same time.<\/p>\n
As a leading lady, what is one of your proudest accomplishments?<\/p>\n
The ability to evaluate and contribute to many charities in our area. The\u00a0current accomplishment is the fact that our company, eMASON, is hiring\u00a0from our local community. We have hired over 50 people in the last 6\u00a0months and have 32 open positions …so it\u2019s a mixture of charity and\u00a0business.<\/p>\n
Who do you most admire in Tampa?<\/p>\n
I admire our community. I can\u2019t call out just one person.<\/p>\n
Outside of charity work, what inspires you?<\/p>\n
Business inspires me, along with the love of my husband and family.<\/p>\n
Now that we\u2019re entering the holiday season, what is one of your favorite\u00a0memories?<\/p>\n
Cooking together, the planning, the sharing of family traditions like mashed\u00a0potato night which takes place the night before Thanksgiving. We have my\u00a0mother\u2019s (Charlotte Mason )now famous Crab Wellington, haricot verts,\u00a0Caesar salad, bread and wine. Some years we make as many as five different\u00a0kinds of do-ahead mashed potatoes!<\/p>\n
What are a couple of your cherished holiday traditions?<\/p>\n
Going to Jim\u2019s Christmas trees to pick up the real tree. Decorating our\u00a0homes with the family, including our kids, my sister, Anne, and our parents,\u00a0Charlotte and Joe who all live in our neighborhood. We all share in the\u00a0festivities together.<\/p>\n
Which Bay area spots do you take your out-of-town guests to really show off\u00a0our city?<\/p>\n
Ocean Prime and the Sand Pearl resort.<\/p>\n
What are your favorite kinds of gifts to give and receive?<\/p>\n
Both giving and receiving a home-cooked meal.<\/p>\n
If you had one wish this holiday season, what would it be?<\/p>\n
An easing of the economic stress on our neighbors and neighborhoods. As\u00a0always, more time to walk on the beach with my sister, Anne Mason and\u00a0boating with my husband, Mark.<\/p>\n

Mason Crab Wellington<\/p>\n
Ingredients<\/p>\n
Yields: 6 servings<\/p>\n
1 16 oz can of super lump crab<\/p>\n
2\/3 cup chopped celery<\/p>\n
\u00bc cup green, red or yellow pepper<\/p>\n
1 chopped jalapeno pepper<\/p>\n
\u00bc cup chopped onion<\/p>\n
2 tbsp butter<\/p>\n
1 can cream of shrimp soup<\/p>\n
6 large shrimp, cooked<\/p>\n
1\/3 cup chopped green olives<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Instructions<\/p>\n
Preheat oven to 400 degrees<\/p>\n
Drain crab.<\/p>\n
Saute pepper, onion, celery till limp, not brown, in the butter<\/p>\n
Add 1\/3 can of soup. Heat.<\/p>\n
Stir in olives and crab<\/p>\n
Roll out a sheet of Pepperidge Farm pastry<\/p>\n
Place crab mixture on pastry and make a roll sealing with egg wash and glazing\u00a0whole roll with egg wash<\/p>\n
Spray baking sheet with very little Pam<\/p>\n
Bake until golden brown (about 30 minutes)<\/p>\n
Combine rest of soup with \u00bc cup of lowfat milk, 2 tsp fresh lemon juice and fresh\u00a0dill<\/p>\n
Add six cooked shrimp cut in bite-sized pieces to sauce<\/p>\n
Heat and serve<\/p>\n
